Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation celebrates 20th Anniversary

Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation (CCPR) was established 20 years ago in August, 1991. CCPR was created to serve the nature and fitness needs of the community, manage and develop existing spaces and resources, and create a sustainable future for parks and recreation programs. Today, CCPR manages and maintains 15 parks and greenways throughout Carmel and Clay Township, two of which are currently “Wildlife Friendly” certified through the Indiana Wildlife Federation. The Monon Community Center was added to their system to provide a Community Fitness Center, Indoor Aquatics, Waterpark, 3-court gymnasium, KidZone (childcare), and program and meeting rooms.

As part of the launch of CCPR’s 20th anniversary, a tree planting ceremony will be held at the grand opening of Founder’s Park, 11675 Hazel Dell Parkway, Carmel,46036. On Saturday, August 20 at 11:30 a.m., local dignitaries including members of the Carmel City Council, Greenspace, Township Trustee and board, as well as current and former members of the Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation board, will participate in a ceremony to acknowledge all that CCPR has accomplished, along with its plans to serve future generations of park users.

A cocktail reception will be held at the Monon Community Center that will feature the presentation of “Park Champions” awards on Tuesday, September 20, from 4:30-7:00 p.m. The awards presentation will honor individuals representing youth, public, and private sectors, who have demonstrated extraordinary support of and commitment to CCPR’s mission and vision.

All are invited to attend a Community Open House on Thursday, October 20 at the Monon Community Center. Participate in class demos, take a behind-the-scenes-tour, engage with local athletes who sport the number “20”, register for door prizes and more.
