Food Trucks coming soon to a corner near you

Remember the excitement you felt when an ice cream truck came through your neighborhood? Light-hearted calliope tunes alerted parents and children alike that ice cream and frozen treats were near! Today, more adult-friendly versions of traditional ice cream trucks are becoming common on Indy’s streets. Maverick PR has the low down of some of the area’s newest food truck offerings:

Fat Sammies

Ciao Wagon

@fatsammies

We’ve tried them all. The traditional sicilian meatball, the spicy meatball, the veggie (with portobella and roasted red peppers) and the “oh so sweet” Nutella and mascarpone desert sammie. Fat Sammies’ signature tomato sauce is the bomb. Savory, delicious and all made from Sicilian family recipes.

Duos Mobile Kitchen

@duosindy

The menu changes with nearly every visit. Who can forget the ramp and egg wrap served up Saturday mornings at the Indy Winter Farmer’s Market? Now the menu features more seasonal produce and a menu with a lighter, refreshing flare to satisfy and keep customers cool on hot summer days. Look for Duos this Friday, June 10 at the Independent Music & Art Festival at the Harrison Art Center.

Byrne’s Grilled Pizza

@byrnespizza

Loyal to Flat 12 Bierwerks, Byrne’s Grilled Pizzas are terrific. We tried the Byrne’s Specialty – no tomato sauce but with pesto, artichoke hearts, fresh spinach leaves, tomatoes, ricotta cheese, shredded asiago and fresh mozzarella. The name Byrne helps honor the late Father Jim Byrne who spent a lot of time in the Holy Cross and Immaculate Heart Neighborhoods.

Hoosier Fat Daddy Bus Cafe

@hoosierfatdaddy

Who doesn’t like a little taste of the South? “Follow Me For A Meal You’ll Love” BBQ beef with sweet and tangy Carolina vinegar slaw… smokey seasoned fries or the Pitt Bull: Andoullie Sausage & Cheese in a cornbread coat, made spicy w/Bourbon ketchup. Yum-o! When are they scheduled to be near MavPR /The Stutz? Until then, you can find Hoosier Fat Daddy at Flat 12 Bierwerks this Friday, June 10 or next Saturday, June 18 for the Alzeihmer’s Association QUASH event.

Mabel on the Move

@mabelonmove

With an invitation that says “It’s like eating at mom’s house,” we say, yes, please sign us up! Seasonal and organic foods are served out of a 1962 Airstream. And why the name Mabel? Mabel is the name of this shiny silver trailer. Retro rewind with Mabel at Sun King Brewing this Thursday night, June 9 or at Easley Winery next Tuesday, June 21.

Scratchtruck

@scratchtruck

“The idea of Scratch was born after a business trip to Portland, OR. I was amazed at the food scene that was there and the crazy food being made in trucks/trailers/carts. I would daydream about finding a way to bring what I saw, smelled and tasted in Portland to Indianapolis. ” says Matt Kornmeyer, Owner. Look for them at IUPUI Thursday, June 9 for lunch. Personally, we can’t wait to try the Watermelon-Jalepeno Lemonade paired with a signature Scratch Burger: 1/3 lb custom ground burger dirzzled with bacon marmalade, arugula and gorgonzola cheese served on a toasted roll with a side of hand-cut fries.

West Coast Tacos

@westcoasttacos

Simple, quick and delicious tacos! Try the mongolian beef, with an extremely pleasant spice level. Its always great to see the boys out and about around town.

Garden on the Go

@gardenongo

Green Bean Delivery and IU Health have partnered to offer produce on a truck at select locations around Indianapolis. Neighborhoods are targeted that may not have “easy” access to locally grown and produced foods. We are excited about Garden on the Go and are happy to include them on our “food truck” list.

MavFans: are you hungry yet? Let us know who you’ve tried or who you can’t wait to try next. Cheers!
